Biography

Personal History

Dr Danielle Belardo is a New Yorker who relocated to Philadelphia after college to start her medical career.1 She is now a Preventive Cardiologist based in Newport Beach, California.2

In college, she started volunteering at the Alzheimer’s Association and got involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s program to raise funds for the pediatric oncology unit at DuPont Children’s Hospital.4 This led to her calling and volunteering has been part of her life ever since.4

Dr Belardo combines medical care with a focus on nutrition, exercise and stress management.5

 

Academic History

She got her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2014. She then went on to complete her three-year Internal Medicine Residency at Temple University Hospital where she became board certified in Internal Medicine in 2017.1, 3

From 2017 to 2020, she completed a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Lankenau Heart Institute. She has also completed extensive training in non-invasive cardiac imaging including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.1

 

Career Overview

Dr Belardo is a cardiologist with expertise in treating various forms of cardiovascular disease and hyperlipidemia. She is currently the Director of Cardiology and Co-Director of Research and Education at the Institute of Plant-Based Medicine (IOPBM).

She treats a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases utilizing guideline-directed medical and procedural therapy where indicated, with a heavy emphasis on lifestyle modification and plant-based nutrition to prevent and reverse disease.1

Dr Belardo treats patients across the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, including lipid disorders/high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms and valvular disorders.1

Dr Belardo is a member of the American College of Cardiology Nutrition and Lifestyle Sub Committee.1
