New Insights in LAAC Imaging: WATCHMAN TruPlan
This broadcast brings together a faculty of global standing to share experiences of optimising procedural workflow with the WATCHMAN FLXTM.
With a focus on procedural considerations (including pre-, peri-, and post-procedure), in addition to providing expert insight on tools to support optimal patient care, this session will provide authoritative update on the management of LAAC and treatment strategies for patients at high risk of stroke.
In a series of presentations and discussions moderated by Dr Sergio Berti (Fondazione Toscana Gabriele Monasterio, IT), Dr Xavier Iriart (University Hospital of Bordeaux, FR) will focus on CT acquisition techniques and how to evaluate, whilst Dr Xavier Millan (Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona, ES) will explore the WATCHMANTM TruPlanTM software for LAAC pre-procedural planning.
Prof Carsten Skurk (Charité Universitätsmedizin, Berlin, DE) will present a challenging case focussing on optimising the TSP and WM FLX implanting in difficult anatomies, before Prof Jens Erik Nielsen Kudsk (Aarhus Universitetshospital, Skejby, Aarhus, DK) will consider the role of cardiac CT in follow-up after LAA closure.
This broadcast will deliver best-in-class, practical-based education and provide attendees with the opportunity to interact with the faculty via a live audience Q&A.

Sergio Berti serves as Director of the Cardiovascular Department at Fondazione Toscana Monasterio, Italy. He focusses on percutaneous interventional treatment of structural heart diseases. Previously, he has served as a Full Professor at the School of Cardiology of University of Florence, and as President of the Tuscan Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology. Dr Berti specialises in cardiology, radiology and nuclear medicine. He is widely published in leading peer-reviewed international journals. Dr Berti has served as Principal Investigator and on the steering committees of several leading drug and device-based clinical trials.
Xavier Iriart is Head of Non-invasive Imaging at the Department of Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology at the University Hospital of Bordeaux, France. Dr Iriart focusses on congenital and structural heart disease interventions, including on the LAA percutaneous programme and the percutaneous paravalvular leak closure programme, where his expertise includes 3D transoesophagial guiding. Dr Iniart is widely published in leading international journals on a range of subjects including cardiac computer tomography and left atrial appendage occlusion.
Dr. Millán obtained his Degree in Medicine in 2006 and completed his cardiology residency at the Vall Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona. He later completed a 3-year fellowship in Cardiac Intervention, divided into a first year at the Hospital de la Santa Creu y Sant Pau (Barcelona) and 2 years at the Montreal Heart Institute (Quebec, Canada) through scholarships obtained from the Fundación Martínez- Escudero and Erasmus Mundus Novadomus. Simultaneously, he obtained the Diploma in Statistics Applied to Research in Health Sciences, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He obtained the title of Doctor Cum Laude for a thesis focused on the percutaneous treatment of paravalvular leaks (UAB, 2018) and his scientific activity has led to the publication of more than 40 scientific articles and multiple communications at national and international conferences.
