Andrew SP Sharp
Professor of Cardiology
Andrew Sharp qualified from Edinburgh Medical School in 1998 and subsequently pursued an MD postgraduate research degree at the University of Edinburgh. His doctoral research focused on the hypertensive heart, establishing a foundation for his ongoing clinical and academic interest in hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
Clinical Training & Early Career
Dr Sharp completed his early clinical training at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before moving to London for senior clinical training at the hospitals of Imperial College London. He then undertook the prestigious Milan-Imperial Interventional Cardiology Fellowship programme, which included a year in Milan at San Raffaele and Columbus Hospitals, where he trained under leading experts in interventional cardiology. This combination of UK and international training shaped his expertise in complex coronary interventions and device-based therapies.

Atul Pathak
Professor
Dr Atul Pathak is a Pharmacologist and Cardiologist. He is leading a clinical research team focusing on cardiovascular pathophysiology and clinical pharmacology and is affiliated to INSERM (National Institute of Medical Research).
Dr Pathak has been awarded by the ESC (Young Investigator Award), by the British Pharmacological Society and the French Society of Cardiology. He is also member of the French Association of Pharmacologists, the French Society of Hypertension and Cardiology, the American Society for Heart Failure. He is elected President of the Cardiovascular Pharmacology Working Group of the French Society of Cardiology. He has both academic and institutional commitments, among them participation at advisory board at AFSSAPS (French FDA) and HAS for the review of clinical trials protocol, assessment of benefit /risk ratio of drugs (marketed or under development) and medico-economic issues (regarding lipid or blood pressure lowering drugs).

Roland E Schmieder is a Professor of Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension, Head of the Clinical Research Centre and Vice Chair of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany. He also directs the Institute of Preventative Medicine at the University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Community Hospital Nuremberg. Roland is a member of numerous professional societies and committees, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He is on the international Editorial Board of the American Journal of Hypertension, the Journal of Human Hypertension and the Journal of Nephrology, among other scientific journals.
