Overview
KDIGO and Translational Medicine Academy (TMA) in partnership with Radcliffe Cardiology were delighted to announce the return of e-SPACE Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) 2024.
A thoughtfully curated programme supported the exploration of how leading experts, in cardiology, nephrology and diabetology, treat the interrelated diseases.
This event once again brought together TMA’s mandate for the delivery of continuing professional development to healthcare professionals to achieve concordance with appropriate treatment plans, alongside KDIGO's mission to improve the care and outcomes of patients with kidney disease worldwide through the development and implementation of global clinical practice guidelines, with Radcliffe Cardiology’s goal to deliver cardiovascular knowledge to best support cardiovascular communities transform theory into practice.

Learning Objectives
- Review the burden of diabetes, kidney disease and heart failure including morbidity, excess mortality and reduced quality of life affecting individuals around the world
- Describe the complexity and interlink between the three conditions
- Discuss existing guidelines and best approaches for screening patients
- Review evidence-based management strategies for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, heart failure, kidney disease and obesity including SLGT2i, GLP-1RA, new non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists and other emerging therapies

Vijay Chopra
Senior Director of Clinical Cardiology, Heart Failure and Research
Dr Vijay Chopra is the Senior Director of Clinical Cardiology, Heart Failure and Research in the Heart Failure Programme at the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket, New Delhi, India. He is considered a pioneer in preventive cardiology, and has worked extensively in the management of patients with advanced heart disease. He has been principal investigator of numerous international clinical trials.
Dr Chopra's research interests include preventive cardiology, heart failures and advanced heart diseases. He was awarded the Kutumbiah Prize in Clinical Medicine from CMC Vellore in 1972. He founded the Heart Failure Association of India (HFAI), and served as its first president from 2014 - 2019.
Dr Chopra has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Deepak L Bhatt
Executive Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Programs
Dr Deepak Bhatt is Executive Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr Bhatt has more than 1,600 publications and has been listed by the Web of Science as a Highly Cited Researcher.
He is Editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Invasive Cardiology and Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Heart Letter for patients. He received the Eugene Braunwald Teaching Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Clinical Cardiology from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2017, ACC’s Distinguished Mentor Award in 2018, and AHA’s Distinguished Scientist Award in 2019.

George L Bakris
President Elect
Dr George L. Bakris, MD, is a distinguished member of the National Kidney Foundation's Board of Directors. As the Professor of Medicine and Director of the Comprehensive Hypertension Center at the University of Chicago Medicine, he brings a wealth of expertise to the forefront of medical education.
Previously serving as the Vice-Chairman of Preventive Medicine and Director of the Rush University Hypertension Center in Chicago, Dr Bakris has made significant contributions to the understanding of hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, and nephropathy progression. With a prolific publication record boasting over 700 articles and book chapters, his work has significantly impacted the landscape of cardiovascular research.
