Biography

Dr. Saib Khogali is a renowned Consultant Cardiologist at the Heart & Lung Centre, New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. He also serves as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. As a key member of a specialist team, Dr. Khogali has been instrumental in launching and establishing a comprehensive coronary angioplasty and stenting program, as well as enhancing emergency patient care at this dedicated cardiothoracic surgery center. Notably, he introduced the Transoesophageal Echocardiography service (a specialized heart scan) to New Cross Hospital, significantly advancing cardiac diagnostic capabilities.

Specialized Training and Professional Experience

Dr. Khogali boasts extensive training in both general and interventional cardiology. His expertise in coronary intervention has been honed through positions at The University Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital Birmingham, and University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire. Prior to completing his interventional training, he was a British Heart Foundation-funded Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford and John Radcliffe Hospital.

Research and Advanced Fellowships

Dr. Khogali’s research has focused on the molecular genetics of cardiomyopathies and identifying potential molecular markers for in-stent restenosis post-coronary angioplasty. He recently completed an Interventional Fellowship at San Raffaele and Columbus Hospitals in Milan, Italy, under the mentorship of internationally renowned interventionalist Prof. Antonio Colombo. This fellowship provided Dr. Khogali with advanced experience in complex coronary angioplasty and stenting.

  • Left Heart Catheterisation: Detailed imaging and diagnostics of the left heart.

  • Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TOE): Specialized heart imaging via the esophagus.
  • Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE): Non-invasive heart ultrasound from the chest.
