Biography

Dr Hendriks, RN, MSc, PhD, FESC, FCSANZ, is Professor of Cardiovascular Nursing and holds the inaugural Leo J Mahar Cardiovascular Nursing Chair at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Flinders University and the Department of Cardiology, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, Australia.

His program of research focuses on integrated care management in AF and related cardiovascular conditions, the development of specialised clinics as well as redesigning practices for implementation of such approach.

He is an Academic Nurse and Health Scientist and undertook his PhD (2013) at the Maastricht University Medical Centre, Maastricht, The Netherlands. His Doctoral studies focus on developing specialised nurse-coordinated atrial fibrillation (AF) clinics, based on the concept of integrated care, and proving improved outcomes as well as the role of specialised nurses to manage these clinics.

He was selected for induction into the prestigious Sigma International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame 2022.
