Biography

Personal History

Dr Dominik Linz is a clinician-scientist who has developed a national and international reputation in the field of cardiac arrhythmia research.2

He is a cardiologist and associate professor at Maastricht University Medical Center+ in the Netherlands.

 

Academic History

In 2007, Dr Linz earned his MD from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. He then joined the world-renowned translational cardiovascular research institute (CARIM) in Maastricht, the Netherlands and obtained his PhD in Medicine in 2013. Following this, he pursued his cardiology training at the University Hospital in Homburg/Saar, Germany.1

The focus of his work has been to understand the pathophysiology and mechanisms underlying atrial arrhythmias and the development of treatment approaches.2

 

Career Overview

In 2017, Dr Linz became Associate Professor and Clinical EP-fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and University of Adelaide (Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders) where he initiated a translational research program focusing on atrial fibrillation and sleep-disordered breathing.1

Since 2019, Dr Linz has been working as a cardiologist at the Maastricht University Medical Center+. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Copenhagen and visiting associate professor at the University of Adelaide. He has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications.1

He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, German Society of Cardiology, German Hypertension Society and German Society of Sleep Medicine. Dr Linz is on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology: Heart and Vasculature and Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology.2
