Biography

Mr. Gianluca Lucchese is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in central London, specializing in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve repair and replacement, and complex aortic surgery. He is also an expert in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), coronary artery bypass grafting, atrial fibrillation surgery, and grown-up congenital heart disease (GUCH). Mr. Lucchese treats private patients at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and NHS patients at St. Thomas' Hospital.

With extensive experience in complex cardiac procedures, Mr. Lucchese has honed his skills in complex aortic surgery and mitral and aortic valve repair, particularly valve-sparing aortic root replacement. His consistent success in these operations, along with minimally invasive valvular surgery and TAVI, has earned him a distinguished surgical reputation.

Mr. Lucchese graduated and received certification from the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Siena's medical school in Tuscany, Italy. He also holds a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Verona in Italy. His comprehensive cardiac surgery training in the UK and Italy includes congenital cardiac disease, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support.

Actively involved in clinical research, Mr. Lucchese focuses on biochemical pathways of myocardial hypertrophy, myocardial protection, and the hemodynamic properties of the aortic root. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
