Prof Gary Ford focuses on developing and evaluating treatments that can reduce brain damage in the first few hours after stroke, and developing better processes of care to deliver for stroke patients. 

Gary has developed and evaluated the performance of stroke recognition instruments such as the Face Arm Speech Test (FAST) and Recognition of Stroke in the Emergency Room Scale (ROSIER) to improve early diagnosis of stroke by the public, ambulance paramedics and Emergency Department teams.
