Biography

Dr B Hadley Wilson, is the president of the American College of Cardiology (2023-2024). Dr Wilson is an interventional cardiologist and executive vice chair at Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute/Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr Wilson is a graduate of Davidson College and Duke University School of Medicine, where he earned honors. He completed his internal medicine training at Vanderbilt University, where he served as chief resident. After his cardiology fellowship, he joined Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute as an interventional cardiologist and held various leadership roles, including director of the catheterization laboratory and chief of cardiology, for over 15 years.

With almost 25 years of membership in the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Dr Wilson has demonstrated his commitment to the field through his numerous leadership positions, including governor of the ACC's North Carolina Chapter, chair of the Board of Governors, secretary of the Board of Trustees, and chair-elect of the Governance Committee. He also chaired the Membership Committee and served on the NCDR Management Board.

Dr. Wilson has a passion for international service, particularly in the field of cardiology. He has been a senior adviser to the steering committee for the ACC Global Heart Attack Treatment Initiative since 2019, an initiative aimed at improving heart attack outcomes in low- and middle-income countries by promoting guideline-directed medical therapy. Dr. Wilson has also led several cardiology medical missions to other countries, such as Haiti, Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras. He is a former co-chair of ACC Latin America and has served as an ACC ambassador to Mexico.
