Overview
Battling cancer is an arduous journey and the impact on one's overall well-being extends beyond the initial diagnosis and treatment.
Join Dr Wendy Bottinor (VCU Medical Center, US), Dr Oxana Palesh (VCU Massey Cancer Center, US), Dr Kerryn Reding (University of Washington School of Nursing, US), Prof Dan Lenihan (Saint Francis Healthcare System, US) and Prof Joe Carver (University of Pennsylvania, US) in this insightful broadcast that delves into the crucial relationship between sleep, quality of life and cardiovascular health among cancer survivors.
The partnership combines Radcliffe’s rapidly growing global community and expertise in delivering the most innovative virtual events, with the knowledge and experience of IC-OS’s members, to curate broadcasts that challenge current practice and have real-world patient benefits.
This broadcast is for cardiologists, haematologists, oncologists, nurse practitioners, nurses and pharmacists.
The International Cardio-Oncology Society is a committed group of professionals throughout the world who are striving to protect the cardiovascular health of all patients who are undergoing cancer therapy. By optimising the cardiac status of patients with cancer before, during and after their treatment, IC-OS is collectively improving the overall outcomes including survival and quality of life. IC-OS aims to provide the latest scientific and clinical education and research for anyone treating patients with cancer in the hopes of enhancing cardiovascular protection.

Wendy Bottinor
Dr Wendy Bottinor is a Cardio-oncologist at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, US. With a deep commitment to cardiovascular health among cancer survivors, Dr Bottinor has made significant strides in the field.
She earned her medical degree and completed her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, US, followed by a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Louisville and a cardio-oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, she also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI), fueling her passion for clinical and translational research.
Dr Bottinor’s research, supported by prominent organisations like the American Heart Association, ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group and St. Baldrick’s Foundation, focuses on understanding the burden of cardiovascular disease among childhood, adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. As a Wright Center KL2 Scholar, she leads the TREAT HF clinical trial, aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease using biomarkers and non-invasive imaging techniques.
Her ultimate goal is to advance evidence-based approaches for risk stratification and treatment in cardio-oncology, ensuring better outcomes for cancer survivors.
Oxana Palesh
Dr Oxana Palesh is a Professor of Psychiatry at VCU Massey Cancer Center, Richmond, US.
Dr Palesh has authored / co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications focused on stress, sleep and medical illness and interventions to address them.
