Overview
In this broadcast, our distinguished panel delve into the dangers of radiation within cardiovascular laboratories and explore emerging solutions to address these critical concerns.
Dr David Rizik and Dr Bob Foster are featured in the upcoming PBS documentary "Scattered Denial: The Occupational Dangers of Radiation” and will share their stories, experiences, solutions and relevant clips from the film.
They will be discussing the radiation problem, the history of radiation in the lab, radiation-induced cancers, the orthopaedic problem, potential solutions and how to engage our administrators to care.

Faculty Biographies
David Rizik
Dr David Rizik is the founder and medical director of the HonorHealth Heart Group, Arizona, US. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Structural Heart and Coronary Interventions at HonorHealth.
Dr Rizik is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology and Internal Medicine and a distinguished researcher in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease, publishing over 100 manuscripts and book chapters.
Bob Foster
Dr Bob Foster is the President of ORSIF (Occupational Radiation Safety in Interventional Fluoroscopy) and the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Rampart IC, which provides radiation protection and orthopaedic fatigue solution for interventionalists and their teams, eliminating heavy lead.
Previously, he was an Interventional Cardiologist at Birmingham Heart Clinic, Alabama, US.
Dr Foster's interests include arterial and venous peripheral intervention.
Rhian E Davies
Dr Rhian E Davies is an Interventional Cardiologist and Director of Complex Coronary at WellSpan Health, Pennsylvania, US.
She completed her medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and went on to complete her Internal Medicine and General Cardiology training at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. This training was followed by her interventional year at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI. Dr Davies then received advanced training with a focus on High-Risk PCI and the treatment of chronic total occlusions at the University of Washington.
Dr Davies interests include high-risk and CTO-PCI, in addition to the treatment and management of cardiogenic shock. She is also involved in several clinical trials.
Dean J Kereiakes
Dr Dean Kereiakes is President of The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, Medical Director of the Christ Hospital Research Institute and Professor of Clinical Medicine at The Ohio State University.
Dr Kereiakes has been an original investigator for many interventional technologies introduced in the last two decades and has performed more than 30,000 catheterisation laboratory procedures.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology as well as The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
Tom Eagan
Dr Tom Eagan is a Cardiologist at Cardiovascular Associates, Alabama, US.
He is a University of Alabama Birmingham trained physician who then proceeded to gain advanced skills at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix.
Dr Eagan's interests include treating venous disease by performing procedures such as state of the art venous ablation and other therapeutic and cosmetic procedures to improve the appearance and function of lower extremity venous abnormalities.
Dr Eagan is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Angiology.
