In this interview, Professor Adrian Banning (John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK) discusses the five-year outcomes of the SYNTAX II trial. This study aims to evaluate the impact of new technologies in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by comparing the outcomes of these procedures to the original SYNTAX trial. The study showed that PCI moved forward considerably in the last 5 years, it is safer and it is competitive with surgery.
