The theme, "The Changing Nature of Family Medicine – Cultivating the Future," recognizes the global evolution of healthcare. Family Medicine in Europe must adapt to the dynamic landscape of healthcare systems and the evolving needs of patients. WONCA Europe member organizations aim to address the diverse roles of their members—doctors at the frontline, academics, leaders within health services, policymakers, and influencers in allied organizations. Improving communication and fostering collaborative relationships within practices, primary care, and across interfaces between general practice and other sectors of European health services are crucial for enhancing the quality of care delivered by family medicine to the population of Europe. The goal is to strive for the highest quality of safe care for all patients.

Considerable thought has gone into selecting keynote speakers, ensuring a balanced representation in terms of gender, age, geography, topic, and discipline. Keynote and plenary speakers will deliver a mix of thought-provoking, entertaining, and informative sessions, including conventional keynote speeches, a panel discussion on the doctor’s voice, and an experiential session from the patient perspective.

Sub-themes address ongoing and emerging issues faced by general practice/family medicine daily. It's noteworthy that a keynote speaker on AI in healthcare, included in the bid submitted in February 2020, remains highly topical.

The Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) has a track record of successfully hosting international conferences. Attendees are invited to let the ICGP host them, allowing for the convergence of thoughts and energy with colleagues to create an inspiring conference in Dublin in 2024.
