Since January 2018, Zaza Iakobishvili, MD, PhD, has served as the department's director in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district of Clalit Health Services, the country's largest provider of healthcare services. He is actively engaged in the organisation of community heart failure and cardio-oncology trials in Israel.
In 2013, Dr. Iakobishvili opened the first cardio-oncology specialty clinic in Israel at the Rabin Medical Center and has been President of the Israeli Chapter of the International Cardio-Oncology Society since September 2019.
He is actively involved in scientific research and is author or coauthor of over 90 papers and book chapters. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the American Heart Journal, the American College of Cardiology, the International Journal of Cardiology, Heart and Mayo Clinic Proceedings. He has also presented at numerous international medical conferences, including ESC and ESC Acute Cardiac Care. Dr Iakobishvili founded the first biennial International Cardio-Oncology meeting in Israel.
Previously, Dr Iakobishvili worked as an attending physician in the cardiac intensive care unit in Rabin Medical Center, Beilinson hospital between 2002 - 2017.
