Srinivas Murali is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Director of the Transplantation Cardiology, Heart Failure/ Transplantation Unit. Previous positions with the University of Pittsburgh include Medical Director of the cardiac transplantation program, and Professor of Medicine, following specialty fellowship training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. Dr Murali was awarded the Fellowship in the American College of Physicians in 1987, Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology in 1989, and the Membership in the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation in 1989. In 2002, he was honored as one of the ‘Best Doctors in America’ by the Pittsburgh Magazine. Over the past 15 years, he has authored or co-authored over 100 publications in the field of heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He has given over 100 presentations in national and international scientific meetings, and serves on several committees in the American College of Cardiology, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Heart Failure Society of America. He was awarded the Diplomate in Cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1987, and the Diplomate in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1983. He received the majority of his training at the Jewish Hospital and Medical Center in New York, and obtained his medical degree from the University of Madras, India, in 1979.
