Biography

Kim M Fox is a Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Heart Division at the Royal Brompton Hospital and a Professor of Clinical Cardiology at Imperial College London. He was President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) from 2006 to 2008, and has also been Treasurer and Secretary of that organisation. Professor Fox has published over 400 papers in leading scientific journals and his expertise is in the understanding, investigation and treatment of angina. He has played a major role in many important international clinical trials, including the EURopean trial On reduction of cardiac events with Perindopril in stable coronary Artery disease (EUROPA) and the BEAUTIFUL Study. Professor Fox chaired the Task Force that formulated the European Angina Guidelines and the committee responsible for the audit of the management of these patients in Europe. He has been elected an honorary member of the French Cardiac Society and the Japanese Circulation Society for his services to cardiology. Professor Fox was a member of the Education Committee, Council and Executive Committee of the British Heart Foundation (BFH) and the Council and Medical Practice Committee (which he chaired) of the British Cardiac Society (BCS).
