John Yarnell is a Reader in Cardiovascular Epidemiology at Queen’s University Belfast. He has been at Queen’s since 1993 and has worked on the WHO MONICA Project, the PRIME Study, and latterly on the MORGAM Project. Previously, he was a member of the scientific staff of the Medical Research Council’s Epidemiology Unit in South Wales from 1975 and was the founder Principal Investigator of the Caerphilly Heart studies and remains a member of the Steering Committee on the MRC’s Caerphilly Collaborative Group. He was formerly Treasurer of the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation and is a member of the 4th Joint European Societies Task Force on Cardiovascular Prevention.
