Biography
Career Overview
Professor Ben Freedman is the Director of External Affairs at the Heart Research Institute at the Charles Perkins Centre, and Group Leader of the Heart rhythm and Stroke Prevention Group.
He is an Honorary Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sydney, and an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. He is the former head of the Department of Cardiology at Concord Hospital. His research interests include inflammation and thrombosis in coronary artery disease, and secondary prevention after heart attack.
Recognition
In 2011, Professor Freedman was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his service to medicine as a clinician.
