Overview
During ESC 2013 (NL), Radcliffe Cardiology, in association with the Interventional Cardiology Review journal, filmed a roundtable discussion entitled 'Balancing the Efficacy and Safety of Antiplatelet Agents'.
The discussion was moderated by Robert Storey, (Sheffield, UK). He was joined by expert group of physicians including Jean-Philippe Collet, (Paris, FR), Antonio Colombo, (Milan, IT), Jeff Daheln, (Accumetrics, US), Guillaume Taylor, (Paris, FR) and Stavros Spiliopoulos, (Rion, GR).
The meeting comprised of four multidisciplinary panel discussions on a range of topical issues related to antiplatelet therapy and platelet function testing.
This educational activity is intended for an international audience, specifically interventional cardiologists, interventional radiologists and aligned healthcare professional involved with antiplatelet therapy.

Robert F Storey
Professor and Honorary Consultant in Cardiology
Prof Robert Storey is Academic Director and an honorary Consultant Cardiologist for the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Directorate, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sheffield, UK, where he has headed a platelet research group since 2002 within the Department of Cardiovascular Science.
He has a special interest in the management of ischaemic heart disease, including acute coronary syndromes and coronary intervention. He served as a member of the executive committees for the PLATO and PEGASUS studies, leading the platelet function substudies for these trials, and of the steering committee for the TRA-CER, EPICOR and ATLANTIC studies. He is currently a member of the steering committee for the COMPLETE study. Antonio Colombo

Personal History
Dr Colombo was born in Busto Arsizio, Italy on June 17, 1950.7 After completing his schooling in Gallarate, he went on to the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1968, before attending the University of Parma Postgraduate School to study Cardiovascular Medicine. From a young age, he was a gifted student; and ultimately graduated Summa Cum Laude from his medical school.7
In 1967, Dr Colombo’s love of travel took him all the way to Iran in his Volkswagen (which he affectionately named “Maggiolino”).5 In 1986, he opened a private centre based on his innovative ideas after feeling ostracised by the academic environment.5 At the American College of Cardiology Scientific Session in 2012, Dr Colombo was dubbed a “Legend in Cardiovascular Disease.”2
