Heart Failure Online (HFO) is a new innovative virtual event, that brings together a leading international faculty to create a rich, interactive experience to best inform the global heart failure community of the latest developments and advances in clinical practice.

With patient management and outcomes at its core, Course Director Prof Andrew Coats (President of the Heart Failure Association and Professor of Cardiology, University of Warwick, UK) leads an interactive programme of discussion, opinion and case studies focusing on the patient journey.

Andrew JS Coats

Andrew JS Coats

Professor of Cardiology and Scientific Director

Professor Andrew Coats was born in Melbourne, Australia. He studied at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, where he earned a B.A. in Physiological Sciences with First-Class Honours, and then completed his medical degree (M.B. B.Chir.) at Clare College, Cambridge. He later obtained higher doctorates (D.M. and D.Sc.) in recognition of his substantial contributions to cardiovascular medicine, and he also completed an MBA at the London Business School. Professor Coats serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Cardiac Failure Review journal.

 

Career Overview

Andrew Coats is an internationally renowned academic cardiologist, inventor, and university leader with a career spanning more than three decades. He is currently the Scientific Director and CEO of the Heart Research Institute in Sydney, Australia. He also serves as Dean of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Affiliate Professor at Deakin University, and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Monash University.

Richard Hobbs is Professor and Head of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, UK. He is Co-Director of the Quality and Outcomes Review Panel and Deputy Director of the National Institute for Health Research National School for Primary Care Research.

Professor Hobbs serves on numerous scientific boards and is chair of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Council of Primary Care, as well as the Prevention and Care Board of the British Heart Foundation (BHF). His publications include 25 book chapters, nine edited books and more than 250 original papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Cecilia Linde

Cecilia Linde

Professor and Head of Cardiology

Prof Cecilia Linde is a professor and consultant in cardiology at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Her research focuses on epidemiology and devices for use in heart failure. 

Her research currently focuses devices and their implementation and epidemiology in heart failure. Cecilia Linde is Vice President of the Board member of the ESC for the period of 2018-2020 responsible for working groups, councils, women, the young and the membership committee and serves as member of the Congress Programme Committee as topic chair for arrhythmia.

Prof Linde is the author of more than 250 papers, reviews and editorials in a wide variety of fields including CRT, haemodynamic monitoring and HFpEF and she serves on the editorial board of several journals. Professor of Cardiology

Martin Cowie is Professor of Cardiology at King's College London, and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK. Prof Cowie chairs the Clinical Practice Committee of the British Cardiac Society and sits on the UK Department of Health’s Primary Care and Heart Failure Implementation Board. 

Prof Cowie's research interests focus on health technology assessment and delivery of efficient and effective care for patients with heart failure, with a focus on diagnostics, drugs, and devices. He has had a longstanding interest in evaluating remote monitoring and other digital technologies in heart failure.
