Translational Medicine Academy (TMA) in partnership with Radcliffe Cardiology were delighted to announce the return of e-SPACE Heart Failure 2023.

 

A thoughtfully curated programme supported the exploration of how leading experts are implementing the new heart failure guidelines into clinical practice and showed the latest information on patient profiling in heart failure for tailoring medical therapy.

 

This event once again brought together TMA’s mandate for the delivery of continuing professional development to healthcare professionals to achieve concordance with appropriate treatment plans, with Radcliffe Cardiology’s goal to deliver cardiovascular knowledge to best support cardiovascular communities transform theory into practice.

Giuseppe Rosano

Giuseppe Rosano

Consultant Cardiologist and Professor of Cardiology (Hon)

Giuseppe Rosano is Consultant Cardiologist and Professor of Cardiology at St George’s, University of London, UK where he is also the director of MSc Heart Failure.

His research interests focus on experimental and clinical pharmacology, heart failure, cardiac metabolism, diabetes and gender differences in cardiovascular diseases. Prof Rosano has been core member of the Cardiovascular Working Party of the European Medicines Agency and member of the Pricing and Reimbursement Committee of the Italian Drug Agency. He is the President-Elect of the Heart Failure Association Board (HFA), and Chairman of the Education Committee of the HFA. Prof Rosano is on the editorial board for European Journal of Heart Failure, European Heart Journal CV Pharmacotherapy, Cardiac Failure Reviews and Cardiovascular Diabetology. Gianluigi Savarese

Gianluigi Savarese

Associate Professor of Cardiology

Dr Gianluigi Savarese is currently an Associate Professor of Cardiology and Heart Failure Specialist at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. 

Dr Savarese has served on the board for the European Society of Cardiology's Heart Failure Association since 2020, and has previously been a Nucleus member of a working group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy for the ESC. He is a member of the Italian Society of Cardiology, and the Swedish Society of Cardiology. 

Dr Savarese attended the University of Naples Federico II University for his degree in Surgery and Medicine between 2004 - 2010. He then went on to stay at the same institution until 2016 as he completed his Specialism in Cardiovascular Diseases. He then continued his postgraduate studies at the University of Zurich between 2015-2017, where he continued his studies into Heart Failure. Finally, Dr Savarese completed his PhD at the Karolinska Institutet in 2018.

Ileana L Piña

Ileana L Piña

Dr Ileana L Pina is Professor at the Department of Medicine (Cardiology) and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health at Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care, US. 

Dr Piña has a particular research and clinical interest in rehabilitation of heart disease in patients with heart failure. She completed a NHLBI HF ACTION trial and is in the process of examining recovery after exercise which could be translated to an additional parameter that may better predict prognosis of outcomes. In addition, there was a R21 to NHLBI to examine Vitamin D levels as another predictor from the HF ACTION database.
