Part 1

Left Main Bifurcation PCI – how to improve your patient outcomes in 2020?

Session 1 was chaired by Professor Antonio Colombo and featured presentations from Professor James Spratt and Professor Akiko Maehara. Live audience Q&A was moderated online by Dr Antonio Mangieri, Professor James Spratt and Dr Emile Mehanna with discussions including esteemed panellist Dr Thierry Lefevre. In this session live cases were presented by Dr Luca Testa and Dr Federico De Marco from the San Donato Hospital in Milan and by Professor Javier Escaned and Dr Nieves Gonzalo from the Hospital Clinico San Carlos in Madrid, Spain.

Part 2

PCI for calcified lesions – the right tools & techniques

Session 2 was chaired by Professor Corrado Tamburino and featured presentations from Dr Roberto Garbo and Professor Robert Byrne. Dr Emile Mehanna moderated the online audience questions and the panel discussions included leading experts Professor Margaret McEntegart and Professor Gert Richardt. Live cases were introduced by Professor Simon Walsh and Dr Colum Owens from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland and by Dr Kambis Mashayekhi and Dr Miroslaw Ferenc from the Bad Krozingen Heart Centre – Bad Krozingen, Germany.

Robert A Byrne

Robert A Byrne

Director of Cardiology

Prof Robert Byrne is Director of Cardiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, and Chair of Cardiovascular Research at the Royal College of Surgeons.

He is also head of the Cardiovascular Research Institut(CVRI Dublin) which is a collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Its research focus is on Outcomes Research, Clinical Trials, Core Laboratory and Systematic Reviews.

Prof Robert Byrne's internship and general medical training was in the Mater Hospital, Dublin and Mayo Clinic, Arizona. His Cardiology fellowship was in Ireland and at the German Heart Centre, Munich, Germany.
