Ricardo Cury, MD, MSCCT to receive 2022 SCCT Gold Medal Award

Arlington, Va. (April 29, 2022) — The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) will present the 2022 Gold Medal Award to Ricardo Cury, MD, MSCCT, at the SCCT 17th Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas on Friday, July 15. The SCCT Gold Medal Award recognizes outstanding leaders who have made landmark contributions to the field of cardiovascular computed tomography and to the society.

“Dr. Cury is a true leader in our field. He is an experienced clinician and imager who is dedicated to patient care, as well as a prominent mentor and educator for the Society,” says SCCT President Eric Williamson, MD, MSCCT. “He exemplifies the highest commitment to the advancement of cardiovascular computed tomography through clinical excellence, leadership, teaching and dedicated research. It is with great pleasure that we recognize Dr. Cury with the 2022 Gold Medal Award – the highest honor bestowed by SCCT.”

Dr. Cury is recognized for his contributions as SCCT president in 2014 – 2015; his outstanding leadership of the CAD-RADSTM writing groups; his longtime guidance of the SCCT International Committee, as well as the International Regional Committee program; and his dedication as a program planner and faculty for several SCCT Annual Scientific Meetings, as well as numerous CTA Academy workshops he has led. Furthermore, he has served as an esteemed mentor who paved the way for many of his colleagues to excel, and as a champion for always supporting the mission of SCCT throughout different roles in the wider cardiac imaging field.

Dr. Cury is author of more than 100 original scientific publications in major cardiology and radiology journals and over 250 abstracts, book chapters, case reports or invited presentations. He has been principal investigator in five research grants, and he has interpreted more than 10,000 coronary CT angiograms and more than 5,000 cardiac MRI scans.

Dr. Cury will be recognized as the winner of the Gold Medal at the SCCT 17th Annual Scientific Meeting (SCCT2022) on July 15 in Las Vegas, Nev.
