Biography

Dr. Samad graduated from the Aga Khan University Medical College in 2000. She completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiology, and a Masters in Clinical Research at Duke University. Prior to joining Aga Khan University as the Chair of Medicine, she served on faculty at Duke University (2009-2018).


Dr. Samad's clinical and research efforts are focused on understanding the epidemiology and outcomes of heart disease. Her mentorship and educational efforts have been recognized with several awards. She serves on the Editorial Boards of The American Heart Journal,  Circulation Cardiovascular Imaging and JACC Asia. She co-chairs the Aga Khan University Pakistan Initiative Think Tank for NCDs.


An important part of her professional vision is to improve cardiovascular health in Pakistan through gender inclusive capacity building efforts that fully leverage available data resources and global connections.

Dr Zainab Samad is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology, published by Radcliffe Cardiology on behalf of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology.
