Personal History

Dr William Henry Sauer is a Cardiologist and a Cardiac Electrophysiologist in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

Academic History

He earned his BA in Biology and BS in Bioengineering in 1995 and his M.D. in 1999 from the University of Pennsylvania.2

He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency (1999 - 2001), Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship (2001 - 2003) and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship (2003 - 2006) at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.2, 3

 

Career Overview

Dr Sauer is currently Chief of Cardiac Arrhythmia Service at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.1, 3

His research interests are focused on two main areas of electrophysiology: the evaluation of clinical strategies to diagnose, prevent and treat ventricular arrhythmia and the application of basic electrophysiologic principles in the electrophysiology laboratory to improve catheter-based management of arrhythmias.7

Dr Sauer is board certified in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Disease and licensed to treat patients in Massachusetts and Colorado.5

Over the past decade, he has co-authored 166 peer-reviewed articles. Dr Sauer is a Member of national societies such as the American Heart Association, Heart Failure Society of America, International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology, International Society for Electrocardiology, American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society.2, 5, 6
