Stuart Jamieson MD, FRCS is Professor of Surgery and Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of California San Diego (UCSD). A pioneer in combined heart and lung transplantation, Dr Jamieson is the surgeon responsible for the longest surviving heart-lung and double-lung transplant patients in the world. He founded and then directed the Minnesota Heart and Lung Institute, and is past President of The International Society for Heart Transplantation. He has authored a standard text in cardiac surgery and more than 400 scholarly articles. Dr Jamieson is a recipient of the Irvine H. Page Atherosclerosis Research Prize from the American Heart Association (AHA) and is listed in “The Best Doctors in America.” He leads an internationally acclaimed program in cardiothoracic surgery in both adults and children.
