Simon Redwood is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He is also Lead Clinician for Research and Development within the Directorate and a Council Member of the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society (BCIS). He is a member of the Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and an International Editorial Board member for the journal Heart. He trained in general cardiology at The Royal London Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and St George’s Hospital, London, and received training in percutaneous coronary intervention at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC, and at Guy’s and St Thomas’, London. He obtained fellowship of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) in 2001 and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in 2003. His MD thesis was on the subject of the pathophysiology of myocardial ischaemia and he has a particular interest in interventional cardiology-based research.
