Marco Guazzi is an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Milan and Head of the Cardiopulmonary Unit in the Cardiology Division of San Paolo Hospital, Milan, positions he has held since 2005. His research focuses on the strategies by which heart failure therapies should be tailored to haemodynamic profiles and cardiopulmonary responses during exercise, and the pathogenetic mechanisms and clinical correlates of endothelial dysfunction in heart failure and hypertensive patients. He has established several clinical research programmes into heart failure evaluation and therapy and pulmonary vascular disease. Between 2005 and 2007 he served as Chair of the Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Working Group of the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC). Dr Guazzi serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cardiac Failure and is the author or co-author of 160 full-length manuscripts. Dr Guazzi received his MD from the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Pavia in 1993, and a PhD in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Milan in 1999.
