Biography

Graduated from Charles University Prague Medical School, Czech republic with Charles University Chairman Prize, trained in Czech republic, US and the UK. Research interests in Interventional Cardiology, initially Coronary intervention, later one of the worldwide pioneers in the field of structural and valvular interventions. Performed very first transcathether aortic valve intervention in the UK, PI of pivotal trials in the field, setting large trials in the field. Set the concept of Heart Team and initiated first multidisciplinary position statements in the field. Further interest also in interventional therapy and prevention of stroke, LAA, PFo closures, trialist and practising interventionist.
