Biography

Prof Carlos Morillo is a cardiac electrophysiologist, currently serving in the Chief Division of Cardiology at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. 

Prof Morillo has extensively researched Chagas disease since 1990, and was involved in the initial studies related to autonomic control in the different stages of the disease and the use of beta-blockers for the treatment of patients with Chagas Cardiomyopathy. He was also one of the first physicians to document the ablation of the pulmonary vein region as a strategy of experimental AF treatment. 

Prof Morillo's key areas of research include paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation, as well as detection of atrial fibrillation in cryptogenic stroke, oral anticoagulation in cardioversion and AF Ablation, syncope and Chagas disease.
