Personal History
Dr Dan G. Halpern is a cardiologist based in the New York area. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at NYU Langone Health.
“I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a child,” he says. Prior to becoming a physician, he served as a medic in the Army. He developed an immediate interest in cardiology during medical school, specifically congenital heart disease as it spans both pediatric and adult care.1

Academic History
In 2005, he obtained his medical degree from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. He did his Fellowship at Children's Hospital, Boston, in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (2015) and at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in Cardiovascular Disease (2013). His Residency was at Mount Auburn Hospital in Internal Medicine (2010) and at Tel Aviv Medical Center, Ichilov, in Internal Medicine (2007).1
Career Overview
Dr Halpern has a specific interest in imaging in ACHD and care of pregnant women with CHD and has been the medical director of the NYU ACHD program since 2015.3
He led the program through the first ACHA accreditation in New York state and its exponential growth. It serves patients with both previously and newly recognized cardiac defects and helps them cope with the stresses of a lifelong and life-threatening chronic illness.2, 3
