Biography

Bianca Rocca, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Catholic University School of Medicine in Rome, Italy. She has achieved the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in Pharmacology and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Experimental Therapeutics, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, US. Dr Rocca is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and has held numerous leadership positions within the organisation, including serving as Chairperson of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Working Group on Thrombosis from 2018-2020.

Currently, Dr Rocca serves as a member of the board in the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (2022-2026), the ESC Nominating Committee (2022-2024), the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines (2022-2024) and the ESC sub-Committee for Scientific Documents (2022-2024). She has contributed her expertise to various scientific and consensus documents from the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis, including the Task Force of the 2018 ESC Guidelines on cardiovascular disease in pregnancy and the Task Force of the 2019 ESC Guidelines on diabetes. She also participated in developing the 2022 EHA-ESC Guidelines on antithrombotic therapy in cancer patients with thrombocytopenia.

Dr Rocca is a Co-Chair of the Course of Advanced Antithrombotic Management with Prof Hugo ten Cate. She serves on the editorial board of several journals, including Diabetes and Vascular Disease Research, EHJ-Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, Frontiers in Drug Safety, and EJ Preventive Cardiology.

Dr Rocca has co-authored over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including publications such as Annals of Internal Medicine, Blood, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Circulation, EHJ, Diabetes, JACC, JCI, JTH, Nature Medicine, Science, and PNAS (US). Her publications have amassed over 18,800 citations, with an H-index of 52 on Google Scholar.

Dr Rocca's main scientific interests include antithrombotic drugs, eicosanoids, haemostasis, platelets, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cardiovascular diseases, and precision cardiovascular pharmacology.
