Following on from the success of 2021's inaugural edition, Transcatheter Interventions Online 2022  brings together a world-class faculty to provide expert insight and educational learning on the latest developments in interventional management.
 

Combining expert opinion and discussion, presentations, and live cases from centres on both sides of the Atlantic, TIO 2022 delivers best-in-class learning, supporting the latest in diagnosis, treatment strategies and patient management.

  • Describe the practical implications of TAVI in the context of coronary artery disease, atrioventricular valve disease and transcatheter heart valve degeneration
  • Select appropriate tools for calcified coronary artery disease, including mechanical circulatory support and invasive imaging techniques

Ole De Backer

Ole De Backer

Interventional Cardiologist

Prof Ole De Backer is an internationally renowned interventional cardiologist working at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark and is an expert in structural heart interventions – among others transcatheter heart valve interventions, percutaneous left atrial appendage closure and thoracic endovascular aortic repair. Special areas of interest are the development and adoption of a fully percutaneous, minimal invasive approach for different structural heart interventions and the use of advanced cardiac imaging tools for planning and guidance of these interventions. He is actively involved and leading several research projects in the field of transcatheter heart valves and percutaneous left atrial appendage closure.

Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Darren Mylotte graduated from RCSI Medical School in 2001, obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland in 2004, and completed the Irish Cardiology Specialist Training Scheme. He and was conferred with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) thesis in 2010 by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has also undertaken a PhD thesis. N the subject of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) at the world renowned ThoraxCentre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Dr Colum Owens, MBBCH is a Consultant Cardiologist at Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. His research interests are Cardiology, Transcatheter Valve Intervention, Patent Foramen Ovale, Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion, Congenital Heart Disease.

Mark Spence

Mark Spence

Prof Mark Spence graduated with honours in Medicine from Queens University Belfast in 1995 and progress to Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 1998. 

He trained in cardiology in Belfast and then completed subspecialty training in congenital heart disease as a fellow in the inaugural Adult Congenital Heart Disease programme at Guys & St Thomas’ and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London.

His MD thesis was awarded by Queens University Belfast in 2002. He then completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at The Royal Jubilee Hospital, British Columbia, Canada before taking up a consultant cardiology post in 2007 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Trust. He joined Mater Private Network in November 2021.
