Roland E Schmieder

Roland E Schmieder

Professor of Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension, Head of the Clinical Research Centre and Vice Chair of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension

Roland E Schmieder is a German physician-scientist whose career has been dedicated to internal medicine, nephrology, and hypertension. He has spent the majority of his professional life in Germany, where he has combined patient care, clinical research, and academic leadership at major university and community hospitals. His work has focused on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and renal disease, with an emphasis on hypertension and vascular risk.

 

Academic History

Professor Schmieder graduated in medicine from the University of Tübingen, Germany. He completed his post-graduate medical training in nephrology, cardiology, and hypertension at the University Hospital of Bonn. He later pursued advanced training at the Alton Ochsner Foundation in New Orleans, United States, where he further expanded his expertise in cardiovascular and renal medicine and clinical research.

Prof Tsioufis works as an interventional Cardiologist as well as Hypertension Specialist and he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centre, Georgetown University Washington DC, US.
