Overview
Medical Imaging within the cardiovascular arena is constantly subject to changes and new innovations. Pie Medical Imaging (PMI) is a software company that strives to be a front runner in this field.
This page gives an overview of PMI’s latest software developments.
The Key Learnings to Be Taken From the Content Herein Are to Understand:
- The role of medical imaging in interventional cardiology
- What is the added value of medical imaging pre-, peri- and post-percutaneous interventions?
- How does medical imaging blend in the healthcare professional’s daily practice?
This Page Is Designed For:
- Interventional cardiologists
- Cardiac Surgeons
- Radiologists
- Paediatric Cardiovascular Surgeons

Shakeel Qureshi
Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist
Professor Shakeel Qureshi is a London based paediatric cardiologist whose achievements include interventions in congenital heart disease. He carries out a variety of interventions in paediatric and adult congenital cardiology, including ballooning of arteries and valves. He has developed innovative keyhole procedures as a consultant paediatric cardiologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Trust and has become an established part of the management of heart defects.
Professor Qureshi directs the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Guy’s Hospital and continues to innovate in the design of new keyhole surgical instruments. He co-invented the Ty-Shak balloon catheter which is now widely used for interventions. He is Chairman of the Medical Board of Chain of Hope (UK charity) and spends time teaching his keyhole surgical techniques to other doctors in developing countries,…
Kuberan Pushparajah
Clinical Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Cardiology
Dr Kuberan Pushparajah is a clinical senior lecturer in paediatric cardiology in the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King's College London. He is also an honorary consultant paediatric cardiologist at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, London. His interests are in cardiovascular imaging, namely in the fields of magnetic resonance imaging and advanced echocardiography including 3D echocardiography. He is the clinical lead for the Congenital Cardiac MRI programme, which encompasses congenital CMR from the fetus to the adult, and CMR guided catheteristaion.
Lee Benson
Staff Cardiologist, Interventional Cardiology
Dr Benson graduated from the Chicago Medical School in 1974. His first two years of paediatric training took place at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and in 1976 was senior resident at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Subsequently, he returned to Toronto for Cardiology fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, and in 1979 entered graduate school at UCLA Medical School in Biophysics and was a research fellow for Dr. Bill Friedman.
In 1980, he joined the clinical staff at UCLA Medical School, and was the Co-Director of the Intensive Care Unit. In 1983, he rejoined the clinical staff at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories.
Dr Benson developed the interventional program in cardiac catheterization at The Hospital for Sick Children, which today is one of the largest programs in North America. He is the …
