Evolving Strategies in Pulmonary Embolism: From Risk Stratification to Interventional Therapy
This expert-led, on-demand programme explores the latest evidence and interventional strategies for intermediate-high and high-risk pulmonary embolism (PE). Chaired by Prof Stavros Konstantinides (University of Mainz, Mainz, DE) and featuring renowned specialists Dr José Montero-Cabezas (Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, NL), Dr Mario Iannaccone (Turin Nord Emergency Hospital, Turin, IT) and Dr Sylwia Sławek-Szmyt (Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Poznan, PL), this session delivers a comprehensive, clinically relevant update on the evolving landscape of PE care.
The session offers a comprehensive exploration of risk stratification and clinical decision-making in pulmonary embolism care. Gain clinical trial insights through an in-depth look at the STORM-PE and STRIKE-PE trials, examining their findings and how they shape current practice. A dedicated technology spotlight provides a detailed review of Computer Assisted Vacuum Thrombectomy (CAVT), followed by case-based learning that showcases real-world CAVT interventions, including technique considerations, clinical outcomes, and post-procedural care. The session concludes with an interactive panel discussion.
Learn at your own pace and access expert insights and real-world clinical examples.
Key Learning Objectives
- Understand the clinical presentation and risk stratification of intermediate-high and high- risk pulmonary embolism, with emphasis on indicators for escalation to advanced interventional therapies
- Evaluate current evidence and emerging clinical trial data, including STRIKE-PE and STORM- PE, supporting the use of Computer Assisted Vacuum Thrombectomy in the management of acute pulmonary embolism
- Review the technical considerations and procedural workflow of Computer Assisted Vacuum Thrombectomy including patient selection, access strategy and safety outcomes
- Apply real-world clinical experience through case-based learning, illustrating decision- making, procedural technique and post-procedural care in PE patients treated with catheter-based interventions
- Engage in multidisciplinary discussion to refine treatment strategies, enhance guideline- concordant care
