Overview
Dr Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman (Geisinger Heart Institute, US), Prof Rajeev Pathak (Australian National University, AU) and Dr Matthew Bernabei (Lancaster General Hospital, US) explore conduction system pacing (CSP) as an evolving approach in cardiac care.
They offer a comprehensive view of the current landscape of CSP, share insights from real-world case studies, present a critical comparison of available tools and explore emerging innovations in CSP technology.
Learning Objectives
- Recall the importance and relevance of CSP in modern cardiology
- Analyse current data and trends to compare CSP with existing treatment options
- Evaluate the operational differences, benefits and limitations of lumenless versus stylet leads
- Apply CSP techniques through analysis of case studies and real-world scenarios
- Leverage the latest innovations in CSP technology to improve clinical outcomes
- Discuss future directions and gather expert insights on the evolution of CSP
Target Audience
- Cardiac Electrophysiologists
- Cardiologists
- Device Specialists

Faculty Biographies
Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman
Dr Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman obtained his medical degree from Madurai Medical College and completed his residency at Jacobi Medical Center. He completed his fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr Vijayaraman specialises in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac ablations, cardiac device implantation, His bundle pacing and Watchman. His clinical interests include electrophysiology. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Rajeev Pathak
Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Prof Rajeev Pathak is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Australian National University, Canberra, AU.
Prof Pathak completed his residency and advanced training in Cardiology at The Canberra Hospital, followed by subspecialty training in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Prof Pathak has earned numerous national and international academic honours and has published extensively in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.
Matthew Bernabei
Electrophysiologist
Dr Matthew Bernabei is a Electrophysiologist at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, US and is the Section Chief of Electrophysiology and Pacing there since 2015.
Dr Bernabei was an early adopter and advocate of conduction system pacing, utilising this for all device patients / implants starting with His Bundle Pacing in 2014 and then transitioning to Left Bundle-Branch Area Pacing in 2019.
He has been one of the highest volume Left Bundle-Branch Area Pacing implanters in the country each year since then and has been one of the most experienced at using various tools, systems and techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes.
