Overview

In recent years, cardio-oncology (CO) emerged as a subspeciality focusing on the cardiac management of cancer patients. In our new Cardio-oncology A to Z series we are aiming to provide you short summaries of CO concepts curated by Dr Arjun Ghosh and delivered by practising experts of this field.

Avirup Guha

Director of Cardio-Oncology

Dr Avirup Guha, Assistant Professor at Augusta University, leads Cardio-Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, US. Dr Guha's ongoing research, under the patronage of the American Heart Association and the Department of Defense, delves deep into the translational science concerning biological disparities between White and Black men with prostate cancer (PC) undergoing androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). A key focal point is the exploration of the Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide pathway and its influence on vascular aging, further probing how social determinants of health modify its effects in the mentioned demographic. He is board-certified in cardiology, cardio-oncology, echocardiography, and several other cardiac imaging modalities.
