Opsens Announces First Use Of Its FFR ProductsQuebec City, Quebec, May 20, 2015 - Opsens inc. ("Opsens" or the "Company") (TSXV:OPS)

(OTCQX:OPSSF) is pleased to announce the first use of the OptoWire and OptoMonitor, its products to measure Fractional Flow Reserve ("FFR"), by Dr. Nico Pijls in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Opsens’ FFR products are designed to optimize the diagnosis and guide the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease.

"Dr. Pijls, of the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and Dr. Bernard De Bruyne, of the OLV Hospital in Aalst, Belgium, are the pioneers of FFR and collaborated extensively to establish FFR as the gold standard in the evaluation of coronary lesions. For that reason, we are proud to see Dr. Pijls, one of the most globally recognized cardiologists and an investigator in the FAME clinical studies on FFR, to use our products in his practice", said Claude Belleville, Vice President, Medical Devices of Opsens. "The arrival of an optical FFR guidewire such as the OptoWire on the market is positive for interventional cardiologists and will be helpful to promote the use of FFR. It was a pleasure to use the OptoWire in several patients, some of them with complex disease. It allowed me to appreciate its reliable measurements and impressive zero drift performance during all cases performed while also acknowledging the constant connection reliability as well as its support during percutaneous coronary intervention", said Dr. Nico Pijls.

"We are confident that the positive reception of the OptoWire from key players of the FFR arena will pave the way for a successful full market launch. We will pursue our precommercialization phase by opening well recognized elite FFR centers in the coming months for further data collecting on the performance of our FFR products. We are confident in our capability to capture an interesting share of the US$300 million FFR market which is expected to reach US$1 billion in the medium-term”, said Louis Laflamme, President and Chief Executive Officer of Opsens.
