NATEC Medical launches a complete Peripheral Transluminal Angioplasty catheter range on OEM/OBL basis

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is the narrowing or blockage of the vessels that carry blood from the heart to the organs. It is primarily caused by the build-up of fatty plaque in the arteries, which is called atherosclerosis. PAD can occur in any blood vessel, but it is more common in the legs than the arms.

• PAD affects 12 to 14% of the general population.
• PAD affects 20% of patients over the age of 75.
• Over 27 million people in the U.S. and Europe are estimated to have PAD.
• 220,000 - 240,000 amputations per year in the U.S./Europe
• 49% of those amputations had no diagnostic testing for PAD

NATEC Medical announces today CE Mark approval of a complete catheter based solution for PAD treatment. Indeed, NATEC Medical is launching three different PTA platforms:

• Ebony 018” OTW
• Ebony 035” OTW

Having the CE mark on Ebony range is the first step of NATEC Medical global regulatory approach, where 510k & ANVISA applications are as important as the width of the range. The 510k approval on the full range is expected by Q3 2014.
