The first report of a prospective, controlled, randomised, open-labelled, multicentre, clinical study “rap and beat trial” to evaluate safety and efficacy of novel 6Fr small outer diameter sheath for transradial coronary angiography and intervention

Abstract

BACKGROUND: TRI has been shown to reduce short and long-term adverse clinical event as well as hospital stay or cost after PCI. RAO after transradial approach is reported to occur even in 30% of procedures. If we can reduce RAO, indication for TRI can be expanded. Predisposing factors of RAO include side of sheath, hemostatsis time, gender, age, peripheral arterial diseases, and so on. However, ratio of catheter size to radial artery diameter is one of the strongest predictors for RAO
