Teresa López Fernández

Dr Teresa López-Fernández is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at La Paz University Hospital and the IdiPAZ Research Institute in Madrid, Spain. She leads the Cardio-Oncology program and holds a similar position at Quirónsalud University Hospital. Her expertise lies in the clinical organization of multidisciplinary cardio-oncology teams, the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients, and advanced cardiac imaging. She holds certifications in cardio-oncology from ICOS and cardiac imaging from the ESC.

Dr López-Fernández founded and chaired the Spanish Cardio-Oncology Working Group at the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC) from 2015 to 2023. She is the Co-Chair of the first ESC Guidelines on Cardio-Oncology and Chair of the ESC Council of Cardio-Oncology. Additionally, she serves as an Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal and the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, and she is a member of the editorial board of JACC: Cardio-Oncology.

Dr. López-Fernández coordinates the Spanish Cardio-Oncology Master’s Program at Sociedad Española de Imagen Cardiaca, has authored numerous articles and book chapters, and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.
