Biography

Prof Reinhold Kreutz is Director of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (DE) and Professor of Hypertension and Clinical Pharmacology. His research focuses on cardiovascular drug pharmacology, hypertension, pharmacogenomics and drug safety. He has published over 400 scientific articles, holds an H-index of 64 and contributes to several key journals, including Blood Pressure, Journal of Hypertension and Hypertension (AHA).

He received his medical training at the Universities of Mainz and Bonn, completing further specialist training in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology across Cologne, Bonn, Heidelberg, Boston and Berlin. He undertook postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellow. His contributions have earned major awards including the Franz Gross Science Award (2021) and honorary distinctions from societies in Poland and Greece.

Prof Kreutz has held multiple leadership roles in the European Society of Hypertension (ESH), including President (2019–2022), and currently serves as Immediate Past President. He is Co-Chair of the 2023 ESH Hypertension Guidelines Task Force and led the 2024 ESH Annual Meeting in Berlin.
