Laura Meems

Dr Laura Meems' research has a highly translational character, with a special focus on heart failure. During her PhD she has studied the role of vitamin D biology in heart failure, and in Mayo Clinic she has been involved in drug-development in experimental heart failure.

She was recently awarded with a Mandema Stipend that enables her to continue her research during her clinical training as cardiologist. With the Mandema Stipend she wants to focus on sex-differences in heart failure biology in order to improve heart failure prevention, management and therapy. She is part of the CVON SHE-PREDICTS-HF, Young @ Heart and Dutch representative of Heart Failure Cardiologist of Tomorrow from the European Society of Cardiology.
