Dr McMurray is currently Professor of Medical Cardiology and Deputy Director (Clinical) of the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences and honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

Dr McMurray was awarded The Mackenzie Medal, which is awarded by the British Cardiovascular Society, was given to Prof McMurray in recognition of his outstanding service to British Cardiology.

Dr McMurray’s primary research interests are in heart failure, coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation and the cardiovascular consequences of diabetes and chronic kidney disease, with a focus on clinical trials and epidemiology.
