Biography

Alyssa McManamon, MD, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist and associate professor of medicine at Boonshoft School of Medicine-Wright State University and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences where she was formerly Director of Advanced Clerkship Programs. She trained in cancer medicine at the National Capital Consortium in Bethesda, Maryland, completing a research year at the National Cancer Institute. Following a 21-year career in the US Air Force Medical Corps, Alyssa retired in the rank of colonel and went on to be one of 100 practitioners selected for the inaugural University of Michigan Integrative Oncology Scholars Program. In 2021, she established the Dayton VA Whole Health Oncology clinic. She is co-author, with Dr. Wayne Jonas, of Healing and Cancer: a guide to whole person care, a book meant to be actively used by teams caring for people with cancer and by caregivers and patients to enhance healing, health and well-being. She is an Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society inductee and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
