Leif Erhardt is Professor Emeritus of Cardiology at Lund University, Sweden. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and a Specialist in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. Professor Erhardt chairs the steering committee for the Risk Evaluation and Communication Health Outcomes and Utilization Trial (REACH OUT). He is a Past President of the Swedish Society of Cardiology and a former Chair of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Education Committee. Professor Erhardt was a member of the Expert Group of the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare for the creation of the National Guidelines for the Management of Heart Disease 2003, and recently completed his second term as Treasurer of the Executive Committee of the ESC Heart Failure Association. He has published more than 200 papers in medical and scientific journals. Professor Erhardt’s research interests include ischaemic heart disease and the prevention of coronary artery disease.
